On this page
Conflict you have with the world is simply conflict you have with yourself.
If someone were to call you a tree, you would not get angry because you know you’re not a tree.
Every bone in your body knows for a fact you’re not a tree.
But if someone were to call you stupid, you might get angry.
You might get angry because something inside you will entertain the idea that you are stupid.
The circumstance doesn’t cause pain.
The circumstance reveals the pain that was already there.
